The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) convened its 2017 Partnership Forum with a focus on the topic “Partnerships for promoting opportunities, increased prosperity and sustainable development for all”. The Forum took place on Wednesday, 5 April 2017, working on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and the role of partnerships. The Council’s annual Partnership Forum brought together stakeholders from government, business, philanthropy, the UN system, civil society and academia.

A roundtable discussion addressed the potential need for principles and guidelines for partnerships. Furthermore the forum explored ways to promote partnerships for global solutions to global challenges as well as ways to make them more effective in support of the 2030 Agenda. Read further here.

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations. Every year at the Partnership Forum, ECOSOC and other UN entities collaborate to bring together leaders from government, the private and non-profit sectors, and civil society. It promotes concrete measures for different groups to work together to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
