On 16 September 2025, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the Sector Dialogues will host an international conference in Berlin. The event aims to discuss and explore international perspectives and cross-sectoral approaches to meaningful stakeholder engagement in the context of human rights due diligence.
Meaningful stakeholder engagement is a cornerstone of human rights due diligence. It helps companies identify risks at an early stage and improve protection for those affected. At the same time, practical implementation continues to pose challenges for many stakeholders.
The Sector Dialogues Automotive and Energy aim to develop sector-specific solutions for implementing human rights due diligence. In dedicated working groups, companies, trade unions, civil society and policymakers jointly develop practical approaches, exchange experiences and create models that can be transferred to other sectors. The conference builds on this work and brings the results into an international, cross-sectoral exchange.
With the conference “Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement – From Principles to Practice” on 16 September 2025, BMAS and the Sector Dialogues provide a platform to share experiences, present good practices and discuss practical solutions.
Participants will include representatives from business, trade unions, civil society, academia, politics as well as rightsholders from the Global South. In addition to keynotes from international experts, the programme will offer a wide range of networking opportunities and interactive workshops.
The conference language is English. Participation is possible both in person in Berlin and via the livestream of the plenary sessions. Please note that interaction and the deep dive sessions will only be available on site.
