Building on the previous version from 2011, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) updated its guidelines on responsible business conduct in June 2023. Since 1976, the recommendations have served as an important framework for multinational companies. Thus, they aim to promote positive contributions to economic, environmental, and social development while minimizing the adverse effects of business operations on society and the planet. The new OECD guidelines capture societal and environmental challenges that have emerged over the past decade. Areas such as environmental conservation, digitization, anti-corruption, and social and human rights have received special attention in this revision.
On September 5, 2023, the BMWK hosts an initial event to introduce, contextualize, and collaboratively discuss the revised guidelines. It will involve stakeholders from civil society, businesses, trade unions, and academia. You can register for in-person participation by September 1.
The second event, scheduled for September 14 and hosted by the BMUV, will focus on environmental aspects. The conference invites experts and companies to discuss the significance of the updated guidelines for civil society, government, and businesses. Registration for on-site participation is open until September 3.
Virtual attendance options are available for both events.
