Sharing practices of successfull cooperation

The objective of sector-specific and regional diversity platforms or organizations like Partnerships2030, the Collective Leadership Institute (CLI), the MSP Institute or the Partnership Brokers Association (PBA) is to foster the establishment of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (MSPs) and provide support to existing partnerships. They achieve this by imparting effective collaboration practices to MSP practitioners and those interested in MSPs. These organizations facilitate knowledge sharing and offer assistance on areas such as impact assessment. They also extend support through activities like organizing workshops, developing and delivering tailor-made training programs, and providing one-on-one consultations. To remain abreast of emerging trends and the latest developments, some organizations, such as the World Resources Institute (WIR), engage in research initiatives. Certain entities, such as the Partnerships Resource Centre (PrC) and the Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (WCDI), are affiliated with universities or other research institutions.

Current research on MSPs

Many platforms and organisations offer cross-sectoral and cross-regional support services, such as the Partnering Initiative (TPI) and the UN 2030 Agenda Partnership Accelerator. Others, however, focus their support services primarily on MAPs with sectoral and/or regional priorities: for example, ALIARSE, based in Costa Rica, and the SDG Partnership Platform, which works specifically in Kenya, are regionally specialised. The International Land Coalition (ILC) and the Centre for International Forestry Research – World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), on the other hand, are thematically specialised and work on a transregional basis. The same applies to the World Economic Forum, which supports MAP through the Centre for Nature and Climate. The Grow Asia platform is both thematically and regionally specialised, with its focus on the ecological sustainability of smallholder agriculture in Asia.

Sectoral and regional diversity of platforms

Apart from the support services offered by Partnerships2030, it is possible for MSPs that are initiated by the German civil society to receive financial and professional support from Engagement Global-bengo. Moreover, there are different consultancies and MSP experts. If you are interested in receiving further information, please contact us.

Support in Germany

Cooperation between organizations and platforms like the before mentioned also exists to strengthen MSPs and similar forms of cooperation in the best way possible. One example of this is the Global Partnership Campaign for the SDGs.
