In October, representatives of the EU, UN Women, civil society organizations and the Turkish government met in Ankara to launch the UN Women project “Strengthening Civil Society Capacity and Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships to Advance Women’s Rights and Gender Equality in Turkey”.

The project will support civil society women’s rights organizations in capacity building. This will strengthen their influence on national and local women’s rights and gender equality agendas.

Together with civil society organizations, UN Women will support measures to eliminate violence against women and girls, improve women’s access to justice and empower women economically. The project will also address the challenges and inequalities created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project will run until 2024 and will receive EU funding of €4.5 million. It will support up to 30 civil society organisations with small grants to strengthen their institutional capacities.
