Multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSPs) are an important approach to addressing complex sustainability challenges. Suited methods and tools can help foster successful cooperation and can be acquired. Among other things, The Partnering Initiative (TPI) offers the online training course “Partnering for Impact” for both new and experienced partnership practitioners.

Complex sustainability challenges require cross-sectoral cooperation. Whether addressing sustainable supply chains, climate action, human rights due diligence or the promotion of decent working conditions, many of these issues cannot be effectively tackled by individual stakeholders alone and MSPs provide an important framework for addressing such challenges. At the same time, experience shows that successful partnerships require more than shared goals: they depend on effective processes, appropriate tools and strong partnering skills.

Against this backdrop, TPI is offering the online training course “Partnering for Impact: Building Transformational Partnerships”. The five-day course is designed for both newcomers to partnership work and experienced practitioners seeking to deepen and formalise their knowledge. Based on the SDG Partnership Guidebook developed jointly with the United Nations, the training covers the strategic value of partnerships, good partnering practices, partnership negotiation, relationship management and approaches for maintaining effective collaborations over time. Virtual seminars are complemented by interactive exercises, case clinics, peer learning and practical assignments that participants can apply directly to their own work.

The training will be held online from 7-11 September 2026 and combines daily virtual sessions with self-paced learning activities. Please note that participation fees apply.

Further information on the programme, registration and participation conditions is available on the TPI website.
