As part of the ECOSOC Partnership Forum, Partnerships2030 was represented at the Partnership Exchange on 30 January with around 200 participants. The exchange provided an opportunity for member states and other stakeholders to exchange views on the role of partnerships in the context of the above-mentioned theme and to share experiences and knowledge on building and implementing partnerships.
Three sessions with different thematic focuses were held. One session on building partnerships to leverage funding for the SDGs, one on building partnerships at country level to mobilise resources from all sectors of society, and one on the role of youth in multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSP).
Susanne Salz from Partnerships2030 moderated the session on the role of youth in MSP. It was highlighted that young people play a key role in the implementation of the SDGs through their creativity, knowledge and energy. In addition, ways to meaningfully engage youth in MSP to harness their special resources were discussed.
The results of the Partnership Exchange will be documented in a detailed summary and made available on the Partnership Exchange website.
The ECOSOC Partnership Forum was subsequently held on 31 January with over 700 participants. There, the need for partnerships at all levels was underlined, especially with regard to combating global crises.
Although more and more partnerships are being formed to achieve the 2030 Agenda, many challenges remain. According to the participants, these include insufficient funding, lack of frameworks and concepts, lack of trust and insufficient data.
All information on the Partnership Forum will be published on the ECOSOC Partnership Forum 2023 website. The outcomes of the Forum will serve as input to the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) in July 2023 and the SDG Summit 2023.
