In multi-stakeholder partnerships, actors from the public sector, private sector, civil society and academia plan, coordinate and implement activities in order to realise common goals and sustainable change. One characteristic of institutionalised MSPs is a long-term governance structure. This always includes a central decision-making body that is responsible for the strategic direction of the partnership. The election process is usually supported by the MSP secretariat in its neutral role as administrative and logistical process facilitator.
