Launched in 2023 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Energy Sector Dialogue brings together companies, governments, civil society and trade unions to strengthen sustainable value and supply chains in the energy sector. Following a successful development phase, the initiative is now being transferred to the UN Global Compact Network Germany and will be financed and managed by its member companies.
The partnership focuses on addressing human rights and environmental due diligence across global energy supply chains. Together, its members develop analyses, practical solutions and sector-specific guidance covering areas such as photovoltaics, wind energy, electricity grids, battery storage and hydrogen. The continued operation of the dialogue demonstrates the added value of cross-sector collaboration in promoting responsible business conduct, strengthening resilient supply chains and creating sustainable structures that extend beyond publicly funded projects.
